This poem is not currently part of a book as are some of my other poems. It has, however, already been compiled into a new compilation of poetry I intend to publish. If you find solace in this, other poems prominently featuring death as a character include: Unanticipated, a Poem About the Death of Self

Unmasked

Today I dove with death
And he touched me on the cheek
And whispered in my ear
My dear I’m always near.

And as I dumped my air
And as I rose with care
I felt him tug my fins
I felt the dizzy spins.

His pale unseeing eyes
His breathless bubble sighs
I took a look at death
And focused on my breath.

When my head began to clear
My legs began to steer
I prayed that he would drop
As I headed for my stop.

But he stayed right by my side
He liked the heartbeat ride
He felt a special rush
In the silent dark deep hush.
