Another of my not-so-recent poems but a lighter one. It came to me one night in Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka.

Cinnamon Air

I spent a night
In a forest in Sri Lanka
Peering into trees
I couldn’t name
Looking for red loris
Catching fireflies
Cupping them
Like I do my breasts
Sometimes late at night
Pillow soft
As you’ve become
Another far away place
Hazy as a dream
Fading on waking.

About the Author

Primarily a cat whisperer, sometimes a writer. Frequently submerged with the fishes and always surrounded by books. Strong belief in the sanctity of at least one desk per hobby. Late to ebooks. Half way through the novel. More tea please.
